South Union says safety still a concern

1 min read

South Union Township supervisors said safety is still an issue at the Fayette County Business Park and said they are exasperated that problems haven’t been corrected.

At today’s meeting, supervisors said monthly meetings between the township and the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority are still occurring but noted little progress has been made since the issues came to a head more than a half year ago.

Supervisors said DEP officials have instructed Black Rock Coal and the redevelopment authority to fill in a slope caused by a high wall. However, supervisors said a steep slope remains and that now there’s also a huge pond of water in the same area.

In other business, supervisors appointed people to act as auditor and to serve on the vacancy board.

Supervisors also discussed protocol that allows the township to take ownership of roads and alerted residents to recent acts of vandalism.
