Irene E. (Skovran) Guziak Kowalczyk
Irene E. (Skovran) Guziak Kowalczyk, age 77, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at home.
She was born on February 1, 1934, and raised on Skovran’s Farm, Fairbank, Pa., daughter of the late Andy and Ann (Moser) Skovran.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter J. Guziak in 1982. She was also preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
Irene was the owner and operator of Walt’s Tavern on Route 40 West for the past 38 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, and was a graduate of Redstone High School.
Left to cherish her memory are her five children: sons, Walter Guziak, Rick Guziak, and Eric Guziak, all of Uniontown, Pa.; and daughters, Diane Smigovsky of Brownsville, Pa., and Sharon White of Phoenix, Ariz; 9 grandchildren 3 great – grandchildren; and brothers, Mike Skovran of Cleveland, Ohio; and George Skovran of Seatontown, Pa.; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Elsie Krzton.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 N. Gallatin Avenue, Ext., Uniontown, PA, this evening from 6 to 9 p.m; on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, August 13, 2011 until 12:30 p.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be held.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, Pa., with Rev. Father James F. Clark as Celebrant.
Interment will be held at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
