More serious charges withdrawn against Smithfield man
The more serious charges filed against a Smithfield man accused of beating his two teenage step-children with a plastic guitar causing multiple injuries July 23 were withdrawn Thursday.
State police Trooper Thomas B. Broadwater said William Floyd Price, 30, of 100 Jacobs Creek Road was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with two counts of simple assault and two counts of harassment as a result of the incident.
During a preliminary hearing Thursday, prosecutors withdrew the assault charges and moved the harassment charges to non-traffic summary citations against Price.
