Uniontown police were able to capture a city man accused of stealing a donation can to benefit Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh to pay bus fare and his phone bill Wednesday morning.

Officer Travis Shandor said Robert Fleming Huey, 28, of 20 Pershing Court, Uniontown, was charged by Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with theft and receiving stolen property following the incident.

According to Shandor, police were summoned to the Fayette County Courthouse for a reported theft of a donation can from the Sheriff’s Department.

“We spoke with officials at the courthouse and sheriff’s department and apparently, shortly after 9 a.m., a suspect, later identified as Mr. Huey, removed the donation can from the building,” Shandor said. “The sheriff’s department was able to provide use with a surveillance photograph of the suspect as well as surveillance video and we began looking for Huey as we patrolled the city.”
