Firefighter saves woman from burning vehicle

An Adah volunteer firefighter is being credited with saving a motorist trapped in a wrecked, burning vehicle in German Township.
State police said the firefighter, who was not identified, happened upon the wrecked Jeep Cherokee on Main Street Wednesday evening and spotted a woman in the rear of the sport-utility vehicle.
Police said the firefighter was able to pull the woman from the burning SUV prior to the arrival of volunteer firefighters dispatched to the crash.
Police said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot after crashing the Jeep into a stone wall.
He apparently left the woman inside the SUV, which then caught fire.
The woman’s identity and condition were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
Volunteer firefighters from Edenborn, Masontown and Adah along with emergency personnel from Fayette EMS joined state police at the crash.
