Homeless man charged with raping Uniontown woman

A homeless man is facing multiple charges after police allege he raped a mentally challenged Uniontown woman in Uniontown Thursday.

Uniontown police Patrolman Thomas Kolencik said he obtained the warrant Thursday night from Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham for Herbert Dale Conaway, 44, who had been residing at the homeless shelter in Uniontown on charges of rape by force, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.

Police captured Conaway this afternoon.

Kolencik said the charges were filed against Conaway after he raped a woman at a building on North Beeson Avenue Thursday morning.
