Henry Page Dyer Jr. passed away Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at his home in Uniontown Pennsylvania surrounded by his loving and devoted F a m i l y following a courageous 10 y e a r battle with cancer.

He was born on Thursday, January 30, 1947 the son of H e n r y Page Dyer II and Lucy Comer Dyer in Uniontown.

Page g r a d u a t e d from Uniontown Joint Senior High School, Class of 1966.

He worked for the Page Dyer Gulf Station until becoming a Coal Miner with United States Steel and worked in both the Mount Braddock Mine and the Maple Creek Mine for 18 eighteen years and for the Maple Creek Mining Company Inc. before retiring.

He later worked for C and J Welding.

Page was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church.

He was a dedicated member of the Uniontown Lions Club for 43 years, holding many offices, serving as chairperson on many committees. He was the recipient of the M e l v i n J o n e s F e l l o w s h i p, a Progressive Melvin J o n e s Fellowship, the Ross F. DiMarco F e l l o w s h i p, a Progressive Ross F. DiMarco Fellowship, and was a Key Member, Cub Lion of the Year, and Lion of the Year.

He was also a member of the B. P. O. Elks Lodge No. 370, the Hutchinson Sportsmen’s Club and the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood, Pennsylvania.

As a member and officer of the former Fayette County Gasoline Dealers Association, he received the honor of ‘Dealer of the Year’.

Page will always be remembered as a kind, gentle, hard working individual who always saw the good in life, was always ready and willing to lend a hand and, most importantly, a person who maintained his dignity throughout his illness.

Page was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathryn Marie Dyer; and by his twin sister, Mary Virginia Dyer, who died in infancy.

Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Anne Deli Dyer; his daughter, Margaret V. ‘Peggy’ Dyer of Denver, Colorado; sons: H. Page Dyer III and his wife Natasha of Bonita Springs, Florida and Patrick A. Dyer and his wife Melissa of Uniontown; beloved grandson, Adrian Christopher Dyer, who was truly the light of his life, of Bonita Springs, Florida; brothers: Thomas Dyer and his wife Jane of Northampton, Massachusetts, J. William Dyer and his wife Cindy of Sewickley, Pennsylvania and Daniel Dyer and wife Denise of Newton, Massachusetts; sisters: Patricia Paul and her husband Kenneth of Atkinson, New Hampshire, Suzanne Dyer of Liverpool, New York and Judith Tempio and her husband Joseph of Ambler, Pennsylvania; his dear aunt, Eileen Allshouse of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; and by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, n i e c e s, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL F U N E R A L H O M E, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pennsylvania on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, August 18, 2011 until 9:15 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 61 Mill Street Uniontown at with Monsignor Michael W. Matusak, V.F., Pastor, as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery.

A Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
