Shelter to hold spay and neuter day for cats
Because of the homeless cat population being so large, Fayette Friends of Animals said it will be holding a spay and neuter day for cats on Tuesday.
Animal Friends from Pittsburgh will be bringing its mobile spay unit to the Fayette Friends of Animals shelter on Herbert-Searights Road off Route 40 in Menallen Township. The event is for low-income families with pets. Participants must come to the shelter and fill out an application to qualify. Participants should bring proof of income for all household members anytime on Monday throughWednesday from 1 to 5 p.m, Friday 1 to 5 p.m. or Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The cost is $40 for males and $50 for females.
The shelter also will be holding this event sometime in September, with exact date to be announced.
Fayette Friends of Animals said the shelter has seen a drastic decline in adoptions of cats/kittens this year and is hoping to help with the cat overpopulation by offering this service.
