Virginia Phyllis Shanefelter
Virginia Phyllis Shanefelter, 74, of Uniontown passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, August 14th, 2011 in the Uniontown Hospital.
Mrs. Shanefelter was born on April 16, 1937 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to Mary Stella (Carbonara) Desatnik of Dearth, PA.
Mrs. Shanefelter was the owner of Head To Toe Tanning & Styling Salon in Uniontown for more than 12 years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and drove her Steeler Volkswagen Bug.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 30 years, Sidney Winfrey of Uniontown; two daughters: Terri Lynn Shanefelter and Ronald Cornish of Uniontown, PA and Armeda Julia Shanefelter and Chad Riewoldt of Plymouth, Indiana; one son, Charles Dwight Shanefelter III of Belmont, California; stepdaugher Cynthia (Winfrey) Grooms and husband, Reggie of Merrittstown; sister, Helen Desatnik Pusso and husband, James of Pittsburgh; brother, George Desatnik and Tuttie of Dearth; six grandchildren: Valerie Shanefelter, Victoria Shanefelter, Charles D. Shanefelter IV, Notorious Grooms, Marcellous Grooms and Reggie Grooms; Steeler her Shitzu and her loving pets: Angel and cats; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends will be received in the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, PA today, August 17, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 11 – 12 p.m., at which time a service will be held with Rev. Vincent L. Winfrey, Sr. officiating.
Interment will be private.
