Fairchance man charged in jail house attack

A Fayette County man accused of armed robbery in Fairchance in June is now facing additional charges after he brutally attacked another inmate inside the Fayette County Prison.

Uniontown police Detective Donald M. Gmitter said Allen Richard Myers, 23, of Fairchance was charged Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with aggravated assault, assault by a prisoner, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person for the alleged attack at the jail Aug. 3.

Gmitter said the charges were filed against Myers for attacking Robert A. Karwatske II inside one of the cell blocks and shattering the man’s jaw.
