Uniontown post office to be named after Marshall

A ceremony to rename the Uniontown post office on Fayette Street in honor of George C. Marshall will be held at the post office at noon Monday. A Uniontown native, Marshall was a five star general and general of the Army who lead the allied forces against Nazi’s in World War II. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for writing the Marshall Plan for rebuilding Europe as Secretary of State after the war. U.S. Rep. Mark Critz, D-Johnstown, who sponsored the law that renames the post office, Uniontown Mayor Ed Fike, state legislators and U.S. Post Office officials will speak during the ceremony.
