Charles J. Summa

Charles J. Summa, 94 passed away on August 18, 2011. He was born on September 15, 1916 in Uniontown, Pa. and moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1941.
He enlisted as a Marine and fought in the Pacific Islands shortly thereafter till 1945. He was a proud Marine!
Upon his return, he married his love in waiting, Angelina DiConsillis. They lived as one for 65 years and that love bore a daughter Charlene on 3/17/1952. Charlene married John Paglino on 8/23/1975 and Charlie gained a son who revered him. But his happiest moment was when his first grandson Nicholas was born on 12/18/1978 and his life took on a new purpose, ‘Papap’, the gentle grandfather.
On 10/19/1982 his joy was doubled when his second grandson Christopher was born. His life took on yet another purpose, ‘Papap’, the patient grandfather.
Who was the quiet man at every ball game, soccer match, hockey game, golf tournament, band recital, and theater performance – ‘Papap’, the proud grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Dominic and Mary and his much cherished siblings of depression era coal-town America, Rosie, Jimmy, Katie, Lucy, Grace, Tony, Thomas and Julia. He was also preceded in death by his loving in-laws, Michele and Jennie and brothers and sister in law, Nick Di Concillis, Joe Cernelli, Fred Bozek, Anna Cernelli. He will be lovingly missed by Josephine Bozek and Lou and Lam Congelio. Numerous nieces and nephews survive his legacy. There may be many an equal, but no finer man has there been! We love you ‘Papap’.
