Reskovac attends leadership academy
Mike Reskovac of Uniontown recently attended the National Corn Growers Association Leadership Academy in Minneapolis, Minn.
As president of the Pennsylvania Corn Growers Association, Reskovac represented the state’s 600 plus members at this national weeklong event.
This first leadership training session was sponsored by Syngenta, a world leader in agri-business committed to sustainable agriculture through innovative research and technology.
Reskovac and the other participants got a up-close look at the National Corn Growers Association through the presentations of their President Bart Schott and the First Vice President Garry Niemeyer, both Leadership Academy alumni. They took part in extensive media training, public speaking exercises and association management classes.
The group reviewed the state of biotechnology and discussed the current challenges and opportunities for corn growers.
They also read a comprehensive economic forecast from futurist Bob Treadway.
“I appreciated the opportunity to participant in this extensive training event, enjoyed the interaction with other corn growers throughout the country, and looks forward to the second session,” Reskovac said.
The second session of the NCGA Leadership Academy runs Jan. 23-25 in Washington, D.C., and will cover public policy, lobbying, parliamentary procedure and visits to Capitol Hill.
Reskovac is a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural systems management.
He is owner/operator of Reskovac Farms LLC in Uniontown. He currently serves as the chairman of the Farmland Preservation Board for Fayette County.
