New Salem man dies in motorcycle crash

DUNBAR TWP. — State police are investigating the cause of a motorcycle crash late Saturday along West Crawford Avenue that killed a 38 year-old Uniontown man.

Kevin Denney, who also had an address in Lemont Furnace, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:43 p.m. by James Bitner of the Fayette County Coroner’s office.

According to Roger Victor, field investigator with the Fayette County Coroner’s office, speed appeared to play a factor in the crash while Denney was not wearing a helmet.

State police reported the accident occurred as Denney was traveling westbound on 3610 W.Crawford Ave.when he lost control of the motorcycle causing it to slide off the roadway before coming to a rest in a wooded area.

Police were assisted at the scene by Fayette EMS and Monarch and Dunbar Volunteer Fire companies.

Funeral arragnements are being handled by the Dearth Funeral Home in New Salem.
