Copier contract discussed at commissioners agenda meeting

1 min read

For the second month in a row, the Fayette County commissioners were approached Tuesday about entering into an agreement with a local company to provide copiers and supplies.

Last month the commissioners voted to use the state’s cooperative purchasing program for the next copier contract instead of seeking bids. The action was taken after representatives from Ford Business Machines of Connellsville sought the next copier contract.

Representatives of Ford Business Machines have said they are the only Fayette County copier company on the state approved list using COSTARS.

COSTARS is a cooperative purchasing program that uses the purchasing power of local entities to obtain more competitive pricing and choice than individual purchasers might be able to obtain on their own.

Jerry Shimko of Ford Business Machines on Tuesday asked the commissioners to approve a motion approving his company as the next copier provider.
