In addition, PennDOT District 12 is continuing its expansion dam repair work to extend the service life of its bridges. Strip and compression seals will be replaced at 18 bridges within Greene and Washington counties. Eleven of these structures are on Interstate 79; seven others are on secondary roads within the counties and include Routes 218 and 2012 (Bobtown Hill Road, Dunkard Township in Greene) as well as Routes 18, 19, 136, 1002, and 1037 (Latimer Avenue in North Strabane Township) in Washington County. Several of the structures in both counties also receive more extensive repairs to the bridge decks and parapets.

Motorists should anticipate reduced speed limits and single-lane restrictions through the work zones.

PennDOT asks motorists to exercise extreme caution when traveling through the work zones.

Heavy equipment and laborers on foot will be moving in and around these areas. The $808,219 contract was awarded to Thornbury Inc. of West Sunbury.

Update: The contractor is currently working on the secondary bridges in Washington County. Beginning the week beginning Monday, they will switch to night shift to complete repairs on the I-79 bridges within the county, which will likely require several weeks of work.

There will be short, single-lane restrictions at the bridges under repair and the operations will require workers to be on foot, at times close to the live traffic lane.

In other expansion dam work, the replacement and maintenance of bridge expansion joints and other miscellaneous construction will be performed on Route 21 in German Township and on Interstate 70 at the Smithton High-Level Bridge.

The contractor on this $995,000 project is Bill Anskis Co.Inc.
