Uniontown man faces gun charges following alleged church camp incident
A Uniontown man is facing several charges after police allege he pulled out a gun at a church camp in Westmoreland County and threatened his family.
State police said Gerald Thomas McCoy Jr., 30, was charged with three counts each of recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Police said the incident occurred Aug. 13 when McCoy went to the Laurelville Mennonite Church campground in Mount Pleasant Township to get his wife. Police said the couple engaged in an argument and that her parents heard the disagreement and got involved.
Police said McCoy then went back to his vehicle and retrieved a handgun and threatened to shoot his wife and in-laws if they did not allow his children to leave with him.
McCoy remains free on $25,000 unsecured bond.
A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date in Westmoreland County.
