Brownsville woman charged following police chase

A Brownsville woman is facing multiple charges after she led police on a high speed chase across Fayette County July 24.

Redstone Township police Officer Troy D. Rice said Carmen Smith, 39, of 6 Angle St. was charged by Magisterial District Judge Jesse Cramer with fleeing and eluding police, endangering the welfare of children, reckless driving and driving while suspended.

Rice said the incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. when he attempted to stop a car driven by Smith following a traffic violation on Hill Side Avenue in Redstone Township.
