Justin Tyler ‘Bud’ Samms, age 19, of Tower Hill 1, Pa. passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born January 31, 1992 in Thornton Colorado, a graduate of Brownsville Area High School Class of 2010. Justin was employed at Federal 2 Mine, Patriot Coal Company in Fairview, West Virginia and was a member of UMWA Local 1570.

He is survived by his parents, Donnie and Velma Samms of Tower Hill 1, Pa. and Julie and Dave Bettcher of Sheridan, Wyoming; his paternal grandfather, Jim Porter of Sheridan, Wyoming; maternal grandmother, Norma Jean Samms of Charleston, West Virginia; sisters: Heather Marie Redenbaugh and husband, Tom of Sheridan, Wyoming, Christy Gorzalka, Sheridan, Wyoming, Ashley Zuker, Tower Hill 1, Maria Griser and husband, Gary, Thompson 1; special niece, Siena Redenbaugh; niece, Ashley Griser; nephews: Alex Griser and Jon Griser; very special aunts, uncles and cousins in West Virginia and Wyoming.

Justin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Mallie Samms, Jr and paternal grandmother, Judie Porter.

Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME, 19 Legion St., Republic, Pa., today, August 26, 2011 from 4 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011, 10 a.m., at the Church of Madonna, Filbert-Orient Road, Cardale, Pa. with Rev. Ollie Parsons and Cecil Roberts (International President of the UMWA) officiating.

Interment will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Rte. 40, Grindstone, Pa.

Please note that everyone will gather at the Church of Madonna on Saturday.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home on Saturday.
