Police probe armed robbery in Henry Clay Township
State police said they are looking for a man who entered a sport shop in Henry Clay Township brandishing a handgun late Friday and stole money from the cash register.
Trooper Heather Clem said the incident occurred at 9:01 p.m. at Akshar Gas and Yough Lake Sport Shop located on Route 40.
Clem said the suspect entered the business wearing a ski mask, light blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans and demanded money from the cash register from employee Bhagvan Golakiya, 49, of Farmington.
Clem said Saturday that Golakiya did not take the suspect seriously at first so the man pulled back on the slide of the silver handgun and ejected a live round in an attempt to prove he was serious.
After getting an undetermined amount of cash, the man fled the store on foot eastbound on Route 40, Clem said.
After the robbery was reported, the state police Aviation Unit was called to canvass a nearby wooded area where investigators thought the suspect might be hiding, however he was not located.
Video surveillance of the incident from business security cameras is being examined by police, Clem noted.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-439-7111.
