Frank J. ‘Salty’ Phillips, Jr.
Frank J. ‘Salty’ Phillips, Jr., age 82, of Lemont Furnace died on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Excela Health Frick Hospital.
He was born on April 4, 1929 in Uniontown, PA, son of Frank J. and Anna Phillips, Sr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Weinberg) Phillips on January 12, 1994.
Frank was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church. He was a 4th Degree member and Past Grand Knight, of the Assembly 926 Knights of Columbus.
Frank was a retired truck driver and member of the Independent Pool League. Time spent with his family was very important to him.
He will also be sadly missed by his friends at Smitty’s Sports Bar.
He is survived by his children: Frank R. Phillips of Brooksville, FL; Robert L. Phillips of Dunbar, PA and JoAnn E. Patterson of Lemont Furnace, PA; three grandchildren: Frankie Phillips of Florida, Samantha Carr and husband, Harry of Point Marion, PA and Christina Watson of Uniontown, PA; two great-grandchildren: Mindy Watson, and Ethan Carr and other beloved family members, Ken and Robin Gibson and Brandi, Trayci and Kendra Gibson, all of Fairchance, PA
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, today, August 31, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Father Ronald P. Larko Officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Mary (Nativity) Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard will stand vigil today at 7 p.m.
The Parastas Service will be held today at 8:30 p.m.
