Sinkholes in Redstone not mine subsidence, official says

REDSTONE TWP. – Sinkholes in a yard along Simpson Road are most likely being caused by erosion, not mine subsidence, according to an official with the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation.

Property owner James Meese is still waiting to hear from the insurance company for a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission contractor who blasted near Meese’s property while constructing the Mon/Fayette Expressway to see if they will help repair the series of holes on his land.
