Wharton supervisors approve Dollar General store

By Steve Ferris heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

The Wharton Township supervisors granted conditional approval to a land development plan for construction of a Dollar General store on Rankin Road.

The two conditions the supervisors attached to their approval at a special meeting Wednesday require the developer, GTB Realty of Brentwood, Tenn., to obtain an erosion and sedimentation control permit from the Fayette County Conservation District and to post bond for widening part of Rankin Road.

In addition, the supervisors approved GTB’s permit application for a driveway and its highway occupancy permit application to widen the road to 22 feet in the area where the store would be built.

The road is 18 feet wide now. The store would be built near the Route 40 intersection.

The township planning commission recommended conditional approval of the land development plan at a special meeting Tuesday.

In other business, the supervisors voted to advertise for bids to pave parts of Shepherd and Brethren Summit roads. The bids will be opened at the Sept. 19 meeting.

The supervisors next meeting in Sept. 7.
