Charles W. ‘Chuck’ McKinley, Jr. Loved the Observer, Paci’s and his birds
Charles W. “Chuck” McKinley, Jr., 54 of Brownsville , died of congestive heart failure on November 29, 2011.
He was born September 17, 1957 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late Charles W. McKinley and Margery McKinley of (Malden) Brownsville who survives.
Chuck retired from the Observer-Reporter on February 6, 2009, after working thirty years as a maintenance engineer.
He was known as “The Bear” by his co-workers and friends. He loved his work, his friends and being a part of any activity. He attended the Beth-Center schools and the former Devereux School in Devon, Pa.
He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 636 held at South Methodist Church, Brownsville under the leadership of the late Richard Householder. He was a member of the Nemacolin Country Club Swim Team and an active member of the California First Presbyterian Church, where he could be found greeting, ushering and lending a hand wherever it was needed.
Chuck loved football and was an avid Steelers and University of Iowa Hawkeye fan.
For the last sixteen years Chuck was an enthusiastic member of the dart team sponsored by Paci’s in Malden.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his four sisters Karen and Laura of Norfolk, Va., Leslie of Brooklyn, N.Y., Margie of California, Pa. and his niece Megan of Washington, D.C.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa. Services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. in the UNITED CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 499 W. Malden Road, California, Pa. with Rev. Candace Cook officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Clinton, Iowa.
