Nearly all charges filed against a New Salem man accused of breaking into a South Union Township home were withdrawn during a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

State police Police said Timothy McKinney Jr., 30, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with burglary, attempted burglary, criminal trespassing, theft and criminal mischief following the incident on Nov. 21.

However, prosecutors withdrew all charges against McKinney during a preliminary hearing before George Wednesday, with the exception of the charge of criminal trespassing, which McKinney waived to court.
