Homes for the Holidays tour expands territory
The Homes for the Holidays tour that benefits the Fayette County Crime Victims’ Center is expanding its territory.
Usually centered in the Uniontown area, this year’s tour, which will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, will include the homes of Rick and Regina Palko in Leisenring, Ray and Valerie Eicher near Fairchance, David and Darla Dowling in Menallen Township and Joe and Stacy Carei of Uniontown, as well as Seams Like Home Quilting Retreat and Bed and Breakfast in Vanderbilt and Neubauer’s Market House in Uniontown.
The sites will be decorated in holiday finery. The homeowners will serve light refreshments. A Chinese auction will take place at Seams like Home, with more than 70 local businesses and crafters donating items.
“We’re happy to be covering more areas of Fayette County because the Crime Victims’ Center provides services for victims throughout Fayette County,” said Linda O’Keefe, legal advocate and tour coordinator. “We’re not just centralized in one area. We provide services primarily to victims of sexual assault and violent crime and their families. We also provide other services that include parenting classes, prevention education and truancy programs. We’re happy people are realizing the importance of our agency and the vital services we provide.”
She added, “We’re so grateful to the homeowners who open their doors and businesses who donate to the Chinese auction, and guests who come every year. For some, it’s become a holiday tradition and they support it every year, and we welcome new friends who decide to do the tour for the first time. We hope they enjoy it and come back next year.”
