Chester J. ‘Red’ Hallas
Chester J. ‘Red’ Hallas 74 of Westmoreland City, Pa. passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at his residence.
He was born April 4, 1937 in Oil City Pa. to the late Chester M. and Della (Hartzel) Hallas.
Chester worked at Copper-weld and Giant Eagle in North Huntingdon. He was a member of Scottdale VFW, Irwin Sports Club, Allegheny Sportsmen Club and Tri-Town Sportsmen Association and loved fishing and hunting.
He loved traveling around the country prospecting for gold. He was involved in Lost Dutchman Mining Association, G.P.A.A. and Ohio Chapter of G.P.A.A. He also served in the Army.
He is survived by Beloved Life Partner of 13 years Doris Ireland. Father of Donald M. (Jane Elizabeth Holden) Hallas of Cheswick, Pa. and Michelle M. Finnegan of Boston, Pa.; Stepsons: Kevin McCafferty and Terry McCafferty; Stepdaughter Marsha (Rich) Kunselman of Greensburg; 15 Grandchildren Heather, Sara, Jessica, Kristina, Jacob, Genna, Erin, Erica, Ariel, Kevin, Arlyn, Joel, Ryln, Shelby and Samantha; two brothers George (Becky) Hallas, Dickerson Run, Pa. and Lloyd (Janette) Hallas of Erie, Pa.; close brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, PA 15642 (724-863-1200). A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
