Give-A-Christmas totals climb
HeraldStandard.com readers have donated another $710 to the Give-A-Christmas campaign, bringing the total to $9,915 for the Salvation Army.
In addition to individual donations, contributions came from Martha Champion’s class of Great Bethel Baptist Church in Uniontown and the Girls Night Out Club of Smithfield, in memory of Ninne Kern.
“As the donations continue to come in, it is a reminder of the generosity in our area,” said Sparkle, the Christmas star, who is mascot for the campaign. “Thank you all so much for donating to this very worthy cause that will help so many people in need.”
Money raised for the campaign goes to the local branch of the Salvation Army that serves the donor’s community.
“Just want to thank the Salvation Army (for) all the good and endless work you do in our county,” wrote Beverly Lohr of McClellandtown.
Stanley Kronish of McClellandtown also sent a note with his donation asking fellow residents to contribute.
“A lot of low-income families look to Sparkle for help, so everybody be generous and give at least a little to help,” he said.
Other donors included Charles and Lonnie Lou Barnhart of Carmichaels; Linda Bartos and Marie Williams of Fairchance in memory of parents Elma and Slim Abel, brothers Jim and Bill, sisters Sandy, Anna, Eleanor and Edith, husband and brother-in-law Jack Bartos; Emma Travalena of Perryopolis; Bill and Carolyn Mosser of Vanderbilt in memory of William C. Mosser, Sr., David A. Mosser and J.
