Assault charges against woman dismissed

By Josh Krysak heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

All charges were dismissed Tuesday against a Uniontown woman accused of beating a Uniontown man during a dispute in October.

Uniontown police Sgt. Wayne Brown said Joni Vernon Hall, 31, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Metros dismissed all charges against Hall Tuesday after the alleged victim in the case failed to testify.

Brown had filed the charges against Hall after police said she beat Richard Griest with a club during an altercation on North Gallatin Avenue on Oct. 7.

Griest had intervened in a fight between Hall and Griest’s daughter, Angel Griest, when Hall attacked him, police said.

Griest was taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries.

Hall had been jailed on $25,000 straight cash bond before posting a reduced bail in mid-November.
