Elderly man says same woman robbed him twice
Less than 10 days after a woman bit an elderly man and then robbed him outside a Uniontown bar, police said the woman has assaulted and robbed the man a second time.
Uniontown police Officer Jamie Holland said Joseph Cope, 76, of Uniontown was asleep inside his home on Railroad Street shortly before 4 a.m. when he was awakened to find two women standing above him while he was in his bed.
Holland said that one of the women remained standing near Cope, while the second woman began ransacking his bedroom.
Cope told police that when he attempted to get out of bed, the woman — whom Cope identified as the same woman who attacked and robbed him Dec. 4 — began to punch him in the face repeatedly.
Holland said police observed visible injuries to Cope’s face.
Cope told police that the women stole about $700 from his wallet that he had withdrawn from the bank to pay bills before fleeing the residence, Holland said.
Officer Frederick Kampert said Cope was robbed by the same unidentified woman while trying to enter a bar in Uniontown on Dec. 4.
Kampert said Cope attempted to enter a bar on North Gallatin Avenue but was unable to get in because the woman was standing in the entryway and would not allow him to pass.
Cope told police the woman then began to assault him and bit his neck, Kampert said.
Cope tried unsuccessfully to get the woman off of him, and she was eventually able to wrest his keys and his wallet from him before fleeing.
Kampert said he observed a large chunk of Cope’s neck had been bitten off by the woman.
The woman in both cases is described as a white woman, in her early to mid-20s and between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. She was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt during both robberies.
A detailed description of the second suspect in Monday’s robbery was not available.
Kampert and Holland said anyone with information regarding the woman’s identity or the robberies is asked to call police at 724-430-2929.
