Man charged with harassment

1 min read

A Fayette County man who told police friends ran him over and broke his leg was himself charged with harassment and criminal mischief after a work Christmas party.

Brian Joseph Rickert, 28, requested state police respond to the Uniontown Hospital, where he was being treated for a broken leg. Trooper Patrick Bouch said in a release that Rickert “was intoxicated on alcohol and marijuana” and said he was run over in the parking lot, but told police he was friends with the person driving the car, and he was unintentionally run over.

Initially, Rickert did not want to tell police the name of the driver, but his girlfriend later called police and said he would tell them who was in the vehicle, Bouch wrote.

Those people were identified by police as Kyle Steven Bero, 21, and Samantha Jo Laws, 24, who told police that they were at a work Christmas party in Wharton Township with Rickert when he got drunk and belligerent.

Neither Bero nor Laws were charged in the incident.
