Stella Shlosky
Stella Shlosky, 84, of Nemacolin, Pa., died at 8:55 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, Pa.
She was born December 24, 1926 in Cumberland Twp. (Serbian-town), Greene County, Pa., a daughter of the late Milich and Milica (Crnkovich) Evosevich.
Mrs. Shlosky attended Cumberland Township High School and withdrew from high school to work in a battery factory in Cleveland, Ohio during World War II. She was very proud of her war effort.
Having resided in Cumberland Township most of her life, she was a member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church of Carmichaels. In her church, she was a member of the Circle of Serbian Sisters, the church choir and church school. Mrs. Shlosky was also a member of the Carmichaels Senior Center, the American Association of Retired Persons and was an honorary member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 14744 of District 10 – S.O.A.R.
On August 22, 1946, she married Pete Shlosky, Sr., who died July 28, 1995.
Surviving are a son, Peter Shlosky, Jr. and his wife, Lyn of Carmichaels; a daughter, Theodora Shlosky – Stanchie and her husband, Michael, of Hendersonville, N.C.; her grandchildren who were the ‘apple of her eye’, Paige E. Shlosky and Peter N. Shklosky; two sisters, Marion Semosky of Brunswick, Ohio and Mildred Zorman of Crucible, Pa. and several loving nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Michael Evosevich and Milan Evosevich and four sisters, Ann Krewasky, Eva Modrick Popincal, Sue Catanese and Kathrine Grooms.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. A Pomen will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the ST. GEORGE SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH, 296 Old Route 21 Rd., Carmichaels, Pa. with the Very Rev. Dr. Rodney Torbic officiating.
