Fairchance Borough council ratified the hiring of Thomas Balaban of Uniontown as a municipal worker retroactively to Nov. 22, when he started working.

Council approved the hiring, which increases the borough’s workforce to four, Wednesday. His starting wage under the employees’ union contact is $12.40 an hour.

Council also scheduled its reorganization meeting for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 2.
