The Dunbar Township tax office is reminding property owners and renters that Dec. 31 is the deadline for applying for the state Property/Rent Rebate Program.

The deadline information applies only to those who did not apply and receive a check this year.

Assistance in filing for the property/rent rebate is available at the tax office and copies of tax receipts, proof of income, etc. is provided at no cost.

The office also offers residents of Dunbar Township copying and faxing of documents free of charge.

Taxpayers can contact the office of Marigrace Butela if they need their paid 2011 tax receipts mailed or faxed to their mortgage company or lending institution as proof of payment.

Butela said her office also would like homeowners and renters to know that the Citizens Energy Oil Heat program, better known as Joe for Oil, is now accepting applications The phone number is 1-877-JOE-4-Oil or 1-877-563-4645. The phone lines are extremely busy, so Butela asks residents to be patient.
