Uniontown woman shot in the face
A Uniontown woman remains hospitalized after she was shot in the face during an incident at her residence early Thursday.
City police said Sarah Jordan, no age available, suffered a single gunshot wound to her face after an unidentified man fired multiple rounds into her home at 176 Lenox St.
She was taken from the scene by Uniontown Firemen’s Ambulance to Uniontown Hospital and later moved to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.
Officials said Jordan was undergoing emergency surgery to repair her face Thursday morning.
Officer Jonathan Grabiak said that Jordan told police that she was standing beside her Christmas tree shortly after 1 a.m. when she heard banging on the front door of her residence and then gunshots. She then realized that she had been struck by a bullet in the left side of her face, Grabiak said.
Detective Donald M. Gmitter interviewed multiple witnesses at the scene who reported hearing multiple gunshots and also reported seeing a large silver sport utility vehicle with tinted windows fleeing the scene.
Gmitter said investigators recovered 10 .40-caliber shell casings on Lenox Street in front of the residence.
Additionally, police said they found eight bullet holes in the residence, including holes where shots were fired through windows and the front door.
Police also interviewed Jordan’s boyfriend, Nathan Mattie of Uniontown, who was at the residence when the shooting occurred.
He told police he was playing video games with a friend when the shots were fired.
He said his friend fled the residence when the shooting started and that after he made sure Jordan’s young son was not injured he realized Jordan had been wounded by the gunfire.
