The newest deputy prosecutor in the Fayette County district attorney’s office said his hiring is an honor.

Anthony S. Iannamorelli Jr. was sworn in to practice law in Pennsylvania and federal court in Pittsburgh last month, and recently sworn in as an assistant district attorney.

“To have a chance to represent the commonwealth and serve the people of Fayette County is an endeavor I take so very seriously. I hope to work hard and learn fast so that I can be an effective prosecutor because this work is incredibly important,” Iannamorelli said.”I look forward to a long career in Fayette County, my home, and the only place I ever wanted or want to be doing the only work I could imagine doing.”

He started as an intern in the office in the summer of 2010. During that time, Iannamorelli handled appellate matters and forfeitures for the county’s drug task force. He said he will continue to do that, as well as other general work assigned to assistant district attorneys.

“I have been impressed with his work ethic and good sense since his arrival in our office, and I look forward to his continued efforts on behalf of our office in zealously representing the interests of the commonwealth, and the people of Fayette County,” District Attorney Jack R. Heneks said.

Iannamorelli thanked Heneks for the opportunity to serve as a deputy prosecutor, and the other prosecutors in the office and the office staff for having helped him along.

Iannamorelli graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Law School and is a 2008 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He graduated from Laurel Highlands High School in 2004.
