By Heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

A Connellsville Township man is in the Fayette County Prison after he allegedly assaulted another man following a fight over petting a cat.

Joseph Raymond Sanford, 46, is charged with simple assault and cited for harassment and criminal mischief after he allegedly punched Sean Patrick Stillwagen, no age listed.

State police Trooper George Mrosko said in a release that Sanford and Stillwagen were at their home on 101 Broadford Road on Sunday morning when they got into an argument over petting a house cat at the kitchen table.

Stillwagen left the room, but Sanford continued “pursuing, taunting and antagonizing him trying to get him to fight,” Mrosko stated in a release.

Sanford allegedly punched Stillwagen in the face, cutting his nose and breaking his glasses, police said.

Sanford was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty. Unable to make bond, Sanford was placed in the county lockup.
