Area residents help family following burglary

By Josh Krysak heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

Just as the Grinch stole Christmas gifts from the residents of Whoville in Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas, burglars swiped a Uniontown woman’s Christmas gifts for her children just days before the holiday.

And while in the beloved animated tale the Grinch has a change of heart and returns the stolen gifts, it is area residents who have helped brighten Jennifer Riggar’s Christmas as donations and gifts have allowed her to get some replacement gifts for her sons to open Sunday morning.

“It has been really great,” Riggar said today. “We have quite a few people who have come forward and made donations to us through the Fayette County Crime Victim’s Center and I had a man anonymously send us a money order from Pittsburgh. The people have really been wonderful.”

Uniontown police said they are continuing to investigate the burglary at Riggar’s residence at 38 Herman St. where a cache of hidden, wrapped Christmas gifts were pilfered.
