Give-A-Christmas surpasses goal
Sparkle, the Christmas star, is announcing the 2011 Give-A-Christmas campaign has surpassed its goal. The total is now $44,988.73 with hours still left before the deadline at noon today.
“Thank you all so much for all your efforts,” said Sparkle. “We’re so happy that everyone pulled together to help us reach our goal of raising $40,000 for the Salvation Army. Every donation is important but we couldn’t have made this happen without the generosity of the Albert Gallatin School District, which dropped off a donation of $17,173.73. We’re so impressed and so grateful for all they have done.”
The Albert Gallatin Education Association sent this letter with the donation: “The celebration and joy that typically accompany the holiday season can be dampened by financial challenges, especially in this troubled economy. The Albert Gallatin Education Association would like to express great appreciation to the students and parents of the Albert Gallatin School District, as well as the faculty, staff and administration, for their efforts to alleviate these financial challenges for local families. Through their efforts, we are pleased to once again donate generously to this worthy cause.”
The amounts raised by the different schools include: George Plava Elementary, $770; Smithfield Elementary, $4,000; Friendship HIll Elementary, $870; Masontown Elementary, $1,617.44; A.L. Wilson Elementary, $2,908.32; D. Ferd Swaney Elementary, $2,200; A.G. South Middle School, $2,778.99; A.G. North Middle School, $628.98; Albert Gallatin High School, $1,400.
“That’s fantastic,” said Sparkle. “And other schools also made donations.”
