John Richard Gantner
John Richard Gantner, 85, of Fayette City, Pa., passed away peacefully Friday, December 23, 2011 in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born October 15, 1926 in Gillispie, Pa., the son of Joseph Gantner Jr. and Kathryn Yenchick Gantner.
John was a member of the Lynwood Lutheran Church, Morning Star Grange No. 1271, Pomona Grange No. 49, and the Washington Township Senior Citizens.
He worked as a Steelworker for the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Monessen Plant prior to his retirement.
John was an Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Holmes, brother, Edward Gantner; and two sisters, Dolores Tucker Ritenour and Dorothy Brandt.
Surviving are his wife, Enid Palomaki Gantner; son, Stuart Gantner of Galloway,Ohio; his brothers: Eugene, Robert and wife Pat, and Thomas and wife Elizabeth Gantner; sisters Gloria Pansino, Alvera Zolock and Shirley Gantner; also numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the LYNWOOD LUTHERAN CHURCH on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jack Hernstrom officiating.
