Karen Miller Smith
Karen Miller Smith, 57, of Smithfield, Pa. passed away on December 24, 2011 with her loving family by her side.
She was born May 6, 1954 in Connellsville Pa., the daughter of Edgar Miller and Eleanor Lewis Miller.
Karen’s parents, son, TSgt. Richard C. Smith II “Ricky”, and in-laws, Walter Youler and Norma Fields Youler, are predeceased
Karen graduated from Fairchance-Georges High School in 1972, attended Penn State University and California State University, and was employed at Smithfield State Bank for 34 years where she held many different positions.
She was a lifelong member of Smithfield United Methodist Church where she was an organist/pianist for 35 years, a Sunday School teacher and MYF leader.
She was also involved in many community organi-zations such as the Colonial Choral Boosters, Smithfield Lions Club and the Smithfield Ambulance Auxiliary.
Surviving are her loving husband of 37 years, Rick Smith; daughter, Holly and Stephen Myers, Stewartstown, Pa.; grandchildren: Alex and Emily Myers both Stewartstown, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Calyssa Smith of Cheyenne, Wyoming; brothers, Franklin and Joanne Miller, Lexington, Kentucky, and Daniel and Debbie Miller of Carmichaels, Pa.; sister, Laurel Miller, Smithfield, Pa.; sisters-in-laws, Kathy Spiker, Smithfield, Pa., and Amy and Calvin Shroyer, Smithfield, Pa. and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing Thursday December 29, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the SMITHFIELD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Church Street, Smithfield with funeral service beginning at 11 a.m.
Interment follows in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
