Virginia E. Gray

Virginia E. Gray, 90 of Houston, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in Somerford House Assisted Living, in Frederick, Md., where she had resided since March.

She was born May 5, 1921 in Confluence, the oldest child of George and Merle Matlick Roupe.

Mrs. Gray was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canonsburg for 50 years. She was very active in the church missionary work.

On February 23, 1941, she married Clarence W. Gray and they enjoyed 54 happy years together until he passed away September 20, 1995.

Surviving are: two sons, James Gray and his wife Sandra of Gaithersburg, Md. and Robert Gray and his wife Libby of Mechanicsville, Md.; three grandchildren, Scott, Amy and David Gray; three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Sadie and Jessica; one brother, the Rev. Donald Roupe of Douglasville and five sisters, Mabel Rafalko (Edward) of Lorain, Ohio, Eleanor Grieb (Herbert) of Catonsville, Md., Gladys Collins (Charles) of Baltimore, Md., Delores Zentkovich (Richard) of Stewartstown and Betty Hogan (Daniel) of Forest, Va.

Deceased are two sisters, Thelma Proctor and Norma Lyons and a brother, Harry Roupe.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, in the MCILVAINE-SPEAKMAN FUNERAL HOME LTD., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, with the Rev. David Wriglesworth officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, Canonsburg, Pa., where they will be used for missions.
