Redstone Township police have charged Donald William Lowther, 40, of Merrittstown with homicide by vehicle while under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI and related charges in connection with the death of a Uniontown woman Thursday evening.

Kelly Branson, 21, and her husband, Adam Branson, were changing a flat tire on their vehicle when it was sideswiped by a vehicle driven by Lowther on Route 40 near Jackson Road. Adam Branson is at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in serious condition.

Lowther is being held at the Fayette County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
