Police arrest man after 9 years
After nearly nine years on the lam, a former Uniontown man was picked up in Florida and brought back to Fayette County late Tuesday to face drug-related charges.
Authorities in Port St. Lucie picked up Richard W. Koslick Jr., formerly of North Gallatin Avenue, after state police in Uniontown were alerted that he was living there.
Trooper Robert Mertz and Fayette County Detective Lawrence Curry flew to Florida to pick up Koslick, who turned 30 Wednesday.
Police filed the charges against Koslick in 2002, claiming that on Oct. 10, 2001, he sold marijuana from the counter of his father’s business at the time on North Gallatin Avenue.
Police alleged that Koslick, age 19 when they served a warrant at the business, had five plastic bags of marijuana and 653 pills of the anti-anxiety medication Valium. The marijuana weighed 32.2 grams, or just more than an ounce.
Additionally, police alleged Koslick had a scale, sandwich bags and other alleged items used to package and sell drugs.
Police also seized M-80 explosives
Trooper James Monkelis, who investigated the case nearly a decade ago, filed the charges on July 15, 2002, after the results for the drugs came back from the state police crime lab in Greensburg.
However, they couldn’t locate Koslick until a relative told police where he was living in Port St. Lucie.
Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr., who set his bond at $100,000 straight cash, arraigned him late Tuesday.
Unable to make bond, Koslick was committed to the Fayette County Prison.
