American Legion Post 51 cheers on Steelers

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

As the Pittsburgh Steelers took the field today in an attempt to claim their seventh Super Bowl win, the crowd at the American Legion Post 51 in South Union Township went crazy cheering on the hometown team. The post, which recently relocated from North Gallatin Avenue in Uniontown, was decked in black and gold. A banner on the wall proudly declared “You’re in Steeler Country” and five big-screen televisions broadcasted the game from around the crowded bar.

“Nobody is better than the Steelers,” said Shirley Kefover of Hopwood, who is a member of the American Legion Post 51 Ladies Auxiliary.

Dressed in black and gold garb from head to toe wearing a Steelers tattoo on her cheek and Steelers socks on her feet, Kefover said Post 51 is always the place she chooses to watch football games.

“We go crazy here. We really have a ball,” she said.
