Bird-watching hike offered

The Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a Winter Bird Walk at Mingo Creek County Park on Saturday. The group will meet at the Mingo Creek Park Office at 9 a.m. Join W & J professor Dr. Torn Contreras as we search the wintry fields and forests of Mingo Creek Park for “mixed species flocks of winter songbirds” Discover how chickadees, cardinals, woodpeckers and other winter songbirds interact with one another to find food, keep warm and elude predators.

Dress for the weather and moderate hiking. Binoculars are recommended.

Reservations for the Winter Bird Walk program are required as space is limited. To make a reservation please contact the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation at 724-228-6867.

Mingo Creek Park is located 12 east of Washington off of Route 136.
