Livestock auctions, crop sales

Results from the Eighty Four Livestock Auction held Feb. 1 as follow: Compared to last week’s sale, slaughter cows traded mostly 2 higher on a large supply. Slaughter bulls sold 1 higher. Supply included 166 slaughter cows, 27 slaughter bulls, 147 feeder cattle. All prices per hundredweight.

Slaughter cattle:

Slaughter steers: No test.

Slaughter Holstein steers: No test.

Slaughter heifers: Select 1-2 1005-1650 pounds, 84-86.

Slaughter cows: Premium whites 65-75, average dressing, 74.50 to 76.50; Breakers 75-80 average dressing, 69.50 to 73; high dressing, 73.50 to 74.50; low dressing, 68 to 69. Boners 80-85, average dressing, 69.50 to 73; high dressing, 69 to 70.50; lean 85-90, average dressing, 57.50 to 62; high dressing, 64.50; low dressing, 53 to 56.

Slaughter bulls: Yield Grade 1 1020-2430 pounds, 73 to 80, a few to 82. Yield Grade 2 920-1230 pounds, 63 to 71.

Feeder Cattle:

Steers: Medium and Large 1 300-500 pounds, 124 to 130; 700-900 pounds, 91 to 106. Medium and Large 2 300-400 pounds, 108 to 112.50. Large 3 700-900 pounds, 67 to 73.

Heifers: Medium and Large 1 300-500 pounds, 112.50 to 120; 500-700 pounds, 95 to 103; 700-900 pounds, 95 to 96. Medium and Large 2 200-300 pounds, 124; 300-500 pounds, 90 to 107.50; 500-700 pounds, 85 to 90.

Bulls: Medium and Large 1 300-500 pounds, 117.50 to 126; 500-700 pounds, 102 to 115; 700-900 pounds, 74 to 81. Medium and Large 2 200-300, pounds 130 to 132.50; 300-500 pounds, 95 to 107.50; 500-700 pounds, 95 to 100.

Feeder Calves: Compared to last Monday’s sale, Holstein bulls sold 10-15 lower. No. 1 Holstein bulls 90-120 pounds, 110 to 132.50. No. 2 Holstein bulls 90-130 pounds, 85 to 105. No. 3 Holstein bulls 85-120 pounds, 30 to 80. Holstein heifers: No. 1: 85-105 pounds, 110. Beef calves: 75-110 pounds, 70 to 105.

Vealers: Utility 65-120 pounds, 7 to 27.50.

Slaughter hogs: Barrows and gilts, no test.

Sows: US 1-3 545 pounds, 54.

Boars: 300-500 pounds, 22 to 26.

Feeder pigs: No test.

Slaughter lambs: Choice 1-3 60-76 pounds, 215 to 235, 115 pounds, 180.

Slaughter yearlings: 95 pounds, 150.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1-2 120-247 pounds, 82 to 115.

Slaughter goats: sold per head.

Slaughter kids: Selection 1 57-70 pounds, 130 to 132.50.

Slaughter nannies: Selection 2 110 pounds, 90 per hundredweight.

Slaughter billies: Selection 1 180 pounds, 107.50 per hundredweight.

Slaughter wethers: No test.

Results for Waynesburg Livestock Auction for Feb. 3 were:

Stock cows: 50 to 70. Slaughter cows: Utility and commercial, 60 to 75; boner and boning utility, 58 to 62.50; cutter and boning utility, 50 to 61; canner and low cutter, 41 to 50. Bulls: Yield Grade 1 1,500 to 2,000 pounds, 59 to 85; yield grade 2, 1,000 to 1,400 pounds, 45 to 72. Feeder steers: Medium and light, 1, 250 to 280 pounds, 82 to 115; 300 to 500 pounds, 70 to 140; 600 to 900 pounds, 70 to 108; heifers, medium and light 1, 300 to 500 pounds, 82 to 100; light 1, 400 to 650 pounds, 71 to 125; bulls medium and light, 1, 300 to 620 pounds, 60 to 120.

Calves: Veal, prime, 80 to 105; choice, 60 to 95; good, 40 to 55.

Farm calves: No. 1 Holstein bulls, 90 to 120 pounds, few, 35 to 80; No. 2 Holstein bulls, 15 to 55; beef – bull and heifers/head, 50 to 150.

Hogs: Barrows and gilts, 1 to 2, 210 to 255 pounds, 50 to 62; 2 to 3, 255 to 280 pounds, 40 to 64; sows 1 to 3, 300 to 500 pounds, 48 to 60. Feeder pigs, 1 to 3, 15 to 20 pounds, 10 to 21 per head; 1 to 3, 25 to 35 pounds, 15 to 34 per head.

Lambs: High choice, 80 to 100 pounds, 110 to 175; choice, 40 to 75 pounds, 80 to 180; feeder lambs, good, 60 to 130. Sheep, 25 to 80; fat sheep, 22 to 80. Goats, large, 65 to 150 per head; medium, 50 to 90 per head; small, 5 to 50 per head.
