Uniontown Library plans Dr. Seuss celebrations
I’m sure you’ll agree that we haven’t really had as bad a winter as others in this country. My relatives in the Boston area have run out of places to put all the snow they’re receiving. With three feet on the ground there, every new storm presents greater challenges. While it’s on my mind, two weeks ago, a lady left a set of car keys in the Children’s Room. We’re not certain how she got home that evening, but the strange part is, she hasn’t come looking for the keys. They’re here in the Children’s Room if they belong to you.
Are you planning to be at the Dr. Seuss evenings? Miss Dianne and the Girl Scouts are putting on a fabulous three-evening program beginning Monday at 6:30 p.m. Bring your five-year-olds and older children for Dr. Seuss stories and fun. The other two evenings are scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 7.
We welcome a new face to our library family. Recently, Lacey Fotta joined our staff and is working the front circulation desk. Please say hello and welcome her when you see her.
A new service will be offered here at the library on the first Thursday of each month. From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on those Thursdays, Rendu Services will be available for free blood pressure screenings and offering other health services and information. Stop by the Reading Lounge and take advantage of this.
If you would like to learn to play Bunco, come to the library on the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. In our meeting rooms, a group is getting together to play and teach the game to others. Light refreshments are served.
We have robins in the berry shrubs here at the library. Dolores and Sandy have spotted a half a dozen or so this past week. Bet they’re cold. Adding that to the groundhog’s prediction, can spring be far off? Get out the seed catalogs. I have spring fever.
Just a reminder – the library does not have tax forms. For Federal forms, call 1-800-829-3676 to request their forms. Pennsylvania forms are available at Rep. Tim Mahoney’s office on Lebanon Avenue.
Please keep the library in mind when cleaning out boxes of old photographs. If you come across photos from the Uniontown area that you no longer want, consider donating them to the Pennsylvania Room here. They’ll be available to researchers for generations to come.
Come see us in the library, take advantage of Rendu Services, and donate old photographs to the Pennsylvania Room.
“I like books. I was born and bred among them, and have the easy feeling, when I get in their presence, that a stable-boy has among horses.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes
