Wayne C. Showalter, age 87 of Brownfield, Pa. died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at home.

He was born June 19, 1923 in Shoaf, Pa., son of James C. Showalter and Ida Belle (Dancer) Showalter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Timothy Lee Showalter and Wayne Leslie Showalter and a brother, Ralph Showalter.

Wayne was a member of Brownfield United Methodist Church, a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a member of Carpenter Local No. 1010, Pittsburgh, Pa. and was a Scout Master, Brownfield Troup No. 487.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Gladys (McGreagor) Showalter; two sons: Mervin L. Showalter and his wife, Margaret of Uniontown, Pa. and Jeffrey Showalter and his wife, Sherry of Addison, Pa.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters: Alice Swift and Edith Nestor and her husband, Webb, all of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Lois Nestor of Uniontown, Pa. and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, February 10, 2011 until 11 a.m., the hour of service with the Rev. James Martin officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, Pa.

Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post No. 51, Uniontown, Pa.
