Mary Ross Matthews
Mary Ross Matthews, 79, of Uniontown passed peacefully away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in the Uniontown Hospital.
She was born July 29, 1931 in Zollarsville, Washington County, PA.
Mary was a member of the Uniontown Third Presbyterian Church and the Zollarsville UM Church. She began her nursing career working for Dr. Sherbert of Marianna, PA and was a Practical Nurse for 40 years. Mary loved attending Bluegrass Festivals with her husband and often served as co-master of ceremonies.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William Ross and Margaret Swihart Ross, her loving husband, Herbert D. Matthews, three brothers, William, Lloyd and Ronald Ross and a great-grandson, Homer Workman.
Surviving are her three loving sons, Alan Matthews and Keith L. Matthews both of Uniontown and Kenneth Matthews and wife Deborah of McClellandtown, PA; five grandchildren, Garrity Matthews of FL, Tereva Matthews of Carmichaels, PA, Jeremy Tyler Matthews of McClellandtown, Lisa Marie McShane and husband Patrick of New Salem, PA and Lori Beth Workman and husband Eric, Sr. of Uniontown; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Marie, Patrick, Jr., Eric, Jr., Brian and Timothy, Jr.; four sisters, Marion Miller, Peggy Unrue and husband Dale, Darlene Brown and husband Jim and Jean Moore and husband Harold and two brothers, Larry Ross and wife Joanne and Fred Ross and wife Sandy all of Washington, PA and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and on Friday until 11 AM, the hour of service with the Rev. Chris Enoch officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
